Our responsibilities

The Licensing Act 2003 places a duty on the Doncaster Safeguarding Children Board (DSCB), the ‘Responsible Authority’, to carry out statutory duties in respect of safeguarding children at licensed premises.

In order to meet the core objectives of the legislation and to ensure that children are protected from harm the DSCB Management Team will provide the following:

  • Publish information leaflets
  • Provide briefings and training to professionals and people working in the licensed trade
  • Attend Pubwatch and other forums to provide information to raise awareness of safeguarding issues
  • Support licensees and staff by advising on safeguarding issues and best practice
  • Supporting the Best Bar None scheme
  • Work in partnership with agencies to promote safe environments for children and young people and to ensure compliance with relevant legislation

The project is in the early stages of development and information will be provided when training workshops and briefings will be available.

The team is committed to providing support to our partners and people working in the licensed industry.

Information about our work is contained in these webpages including contact details for staff working for the DSCB.

If you wish to report any concerns in relation to safeguarding children and young people please do not hesitate to contact the Doncaster Safeguarding Children Board:
